If you have never been to an Import Drag Racing Cicuit (IDRC) event; the words and images I'm about to share with you will be an understatement. For me, the day started off with a 6:00 am shower, a quick stop at the local burger joint for a delicious bacon and egg sandwich and a large orange bang, hit the freeway, set the cruise control to 80mph to make short work of a 25 mile drive to Fontana. The event was held at the Auto Club Dragway located on the grounds of the California Speedway in Fontana, Ca. When I arrived, the first place I wanted to shoot was tech inspections area. In my opinion, tech inspection is a great place to start shooting because the cars are stopped and all the removable parts are taken off so that the inspectors can do a thorough check. This works out for me because I can get detailed shots that I wouldn't be able to get at the start line. When you hear "import drag racing" we're not talking about your mom's Honda pilot or that '72 civic hatch with a JDM student driver badge that chills out front of your local Yoshinoya. I'm talking about high horsepower, super fast, crazy loud imports built by true enthusiasts. There were a few cars there with unmistakably high dollar builds, but the majority of competing cars were well built do-it-your-selfers. In conjunction with the IDRC West Coast Nationals the guys from DSPORT organized a car show entitled "Fancy Fed Car Show". On deck were some of Southern California's hottest rides. Cooling down and energizing the crowd duties were left up to the folks at NOS energy drink. To say the least, it was a very action filled and entertaining day at the races, thanks to the shot callers at IDRC and big ballers at DSPORT. It takes a lot of work to bring you these images so please show your support by following and subscribing to this blog. Thanks and God bless, Phillip Allende.

this is awesome. one of my friends is totally into the do-it-yourself thing. check out this vid when you have time - no racing, but it's pretty cool. his is the orange car at approx 05:16 in the vid. again, great shots!
